Baillie Gifford, a major Scottish asset manager, has invested a whopping $ 100 million in Blockchain.com. Peter Smith, CEO and Co-Founder of Blockchain.com, announced this on April 20:
Blockchain.com is a popular cryptocurrency wallet for crypto such as bitcoin (BTC) and ethereum (ETH). It is also an exchange, a blockchain explorer and a website for prices and other statistics.
The platform raised $ 300 million in funding round in March and now announces that Baillie Gifford was the largest investor with $ 100 million:
“As one of their first crypto investments, we are honored to include them in our journey to get the next 1 billion people to crypto. It is also a confirmation that a balanced and diversified private and institutional company has incredible growth potential in the coming years. ”
Says Smith, who reports that it is the largest investment the company has received from a single investor to date. Baillie Gifford is a 110-year-old asset manager with a whopping $ 450 billion in assets under management. The company made huge profits from early investments in companies such as Tesla, Amazon, Google, Airbnb and Alibabi.
Blockchain.com now has more than 30 million verified users, tripling from a year ago.
